It’s late here and I can’t sleep. We have a big weekend planned with swinging by the motorcycle club Reaper is prospecting for tonight after he gets out of work then spending his day off tomorrow at the gun range. So I figured I would hop on and write a bit about finding a motorcycle club that is right for you.
Understand the three types of Motorcycle Clubs

This is one of the most important things to consider. A 1% club doesn’t necessarily mean you will be part of any outlaw activity but to have that tough image so many men like comes with the risk of getting caught up in something you may not want to.
By joining a 99% club you can feel a bit more at ease that you can have the brotherhood of a club with a much smaller chance of putting yourself into a position that you don’t want to be in. These clubs make up the majority available and tend to be lesser-known.
Riding clubs are a great option for those that want to have friends to ride with but are not necessarily interested in a true ride or dye type of brotherhood. These clubs are popular with weekend riders and those that don’t really have a lot of time to devote to a motorcycle club.
Reaper spent a lot of time hanging around different clubs just for the fun of it with his brothers and thought a lot about joining a couple of the 1% clubs near us but at the end of the day that’s not the lifestyle he wants around our family. As someone who grew up with prostitutes and dealers, I have a lot of respect for my husband for choosing to follow my effort to keep that life away from our kids.
Take a look at your values
When looking for the right motorcycle club for you one thing to consider is the club’s values. One thing that attracted Reaper to the club he is prospecting for is that the club values family above the club. While this may make them seem weak to many it fits our values meaning he can take pride in joining a brotherhood that will never expect him to put them above the kids that are the most important thing to the both of us when it comes to any choice we make in our lives.
Look for people you can get along with
During the hang around and prospecting phase, you are getting to know the members of the club. Just because they fit your values and lifestyle doesn’t mean it’s the right place for you. When you join a club these men become your brothers but they are vary much brothers by choice. Choose a club where you are happy and you can build relationships worth your loyalty.
While I won’t pretend to know what goes on in clubs when the women aren’t around I know like with anywhere else in life you don’t pledge that type of loyalty to just anyone.
How to find a motorcycle club

Finding the right club for you is easier now than ever before. With the rise of social media, it is a breeze to find when clubs have parties open to the public. These parties allow you to visit clubs and get a feel for the people in it, make connections, and find new clubs to check out in your area that you may never have heard of.
Spend some time on the scene. If you want to find a motorcycle club you need to spend time with, well, bikers. This means going to biker club events, stopping by local swap meets to find parts for your bike, and venturing out to biker rallies and other events.
Kind of like dating. You find the people right for you by living the lifestyle you want to live.
